Rising country star Luke Bryan just cemented his place as one of the genre's leading men as his fourth studio album, 'Crash My Party', makes a big debut on the Billboard 200 selling 528,000 copies in its first week of release.
That figure scores him the third-largest opening week of the year, only trailing musical superstar Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z with 'The 20/20 Experience' (968,000) and 'Magna Carta... Holy Grail' (slightly over 528,000), respectively.
Elsewhere on the Billboard 200, R&B newcomer and reality star K. Michelle starts off better than expected at No.2 with 72,000 copies sold of her debut album, 'Rebellious Soul'. While nothing to brag about considering Bryan's numbers, that figure is higher than opening week numbers from Ciara, Brandy and Kelly Rowland.
On the Hot 100, Robin Thicke and his summer hit, "Blurred Lines", barely escape the claws of Katy Perry and her new single, "Roar", to spend its eleventh consecutive week at the summit. The song sold 557,000 downloads and beat the "Applause" (218,000), the new single by Lady GaGa in a landslide victory. Peep both top 10's beneath:
